Take out well...

An embroidery in cross stitch is carried out by counting the squares of the chart to embroider them on the take out fabric.

Each square of the chart represents a cross stitch.

generally uses 2 embroidery floss to embroider a cross stitch  and 1 embrodery floss for the back stitch.

It is preferable to begin your work with the center. For that take out fold the fabric into 4 and take out mark the center with a pin!

On the chart you will find the center thanks to the black arrows.

Let us see the various fabrics first of all that one can use....

It should be known that the higher the fabric count of a fabric, the smaller the weave of the fabric! What this means is that your final stitched picture will be smaller

L'Aïda

It is a cotton fabric whose weaving forms squares.

It exists in various sizes, of 3, 4, 5.5, 6, 7 points/cm. Most current is that which counts 5.5 points/cm.

Personally I affectionne particularly 7!

It exists in many colours, which makes it possible to vary.

Etamin

Etamin is a fabric unifil.

There are two kinds: out of mixed cotton or linen.

It exists in various sizes,  10, 12, and 14 threads/cm

Linen

Linen is a fabric whose screen is irregular.

One can embroider into 1 or 2 weft threads according to the smoothness of the drawing which one wishes to carry out.

Le tire fil

the tire-fil which makes it possible to embroider the small crosses on any support without needing special fabric.

Then, one embroiders the reason which interests us and finally, one removes gently draws it wire wire after wire

There are two kinds: 72 threads/10 cm and the 88 threads/10 cm.

Plastic to be embroidered

It is embroidered like fabric.

It is used for primarily to make mark-pages, for magnets or small décos of fir tree.

It is embroidered into 2 to 3 crushed cotton bits. It is necessary to cross while leaving a cross of each with dimensions so that the crosses are not demolished.

Then the equipment

Needles

The needles most usually used for the point of cross are the n°24 and the n°26 with round ends.

On a finer fabric with very tight weaving, one can choose a needle to be embroidered with pointed end not to mark fabric.

By also knowing that as for the fabric, more the figure is large more the needle is small.

Threads

The threads most usually used are crushed cottons  DMC. A crushed cotton bit is composed of 6 wire.

Generally one embroiders the cross stitch with 2 cotton wire and the back point with only one wire.

One can also embroider with 1 or 3 wire, all depends on the fabric used.

One embroidery floss of  DMC measures 8 meters which one cuts out into acicular. For my part I use the acicular ones of approximately 60 cm.  then I fold my thread into two. An important thing, if your thread is too large, it will wear and become fluffy.

There are also degraded thread (which I adore), of metallized, beaded, wire of flax, silk wire... not forcing of mark DMC! (Anchor, Silkworm, Necessities, Madeira...)

Do not hesitate it is necessary to test, compare and use the thread which are appropriate to you best.

The drum

The drum is composed of two encased circles one in the other. It can be several sizes and there are also some out of plastic.

Certain embroidering-machines uses it all the time. For my part I use it only for unifil because it is small and I require that the fabric is well tended, if not I prefer to do some.

Scissors

The scissors are essential! Take care well has what they are used only for the embroidery. It is necessary that they have a pointed end.

An important remark:

Attention with the colors used in the diagrams, because they do not correspond inevitably to the real colors

A présent voyons les principaux points que vous devrez utiliser pour  le point compté...

let us see the principal points which you will have to use for  the counted point...

Cross Stitch :

 Pthere are two techniques::

The first: to embroider by line!

Initially you embroider of left on the right a line of half points and then of right-hand side on the left a line in the other direction.

This technique is practical when you have a long series of points of the same color.

The second: to embroider point by point!

This technique is useful if there are only very small reasons to embroider or some points only.

Back cross

is generally used to emphasize a pattern.  Prick the needle and emphasize it a point further forwards or the back.

Point de Noeud:

The point of node can appear difficult but with a little drive, one controls it easily.

It is enough  to leave the wire and of roll up two or three times around the needle according to the desired size. Then mend the needle with a few millimetres of the base of the wire and hop the turn is played!

Do not forget that one never should make node on the back of an embroidery because they could be demolished or to see itself at the time of the framing of your work.

To begin and finish acicular it is enough for you thus to make it pass under some points of cross, thus your wire is retained and is not likely from to go away...

To finish, will know that you can wash your embroidery out of machine very well (except if you used metallized wire, there it is to better do it with the hand).
